Cloud computing is the on-demand availability of computer system resources, especially data storage (cloud storage) and computing power, without direct active management by the user. The term is generally used to describe data centers available to many users over the Internet.
A "Cloud" may be limited to a single organization (Private Cloud), or be available to many organizations (Public Cloud). Some companies make use of both cloud options or even mulitple cloud providers, and this we refer to as a Hybrid Cloud
"Cloud Computing" relies on sharing of resources to achieve coherence and economies of scale.
“Virtualization software, also called a hypervisor, emulates computer hardware allowing multiple operating systems to run on a single physical computer host. Each guest operating system appears to have the host's processor, memory, and other resources all to itself. The hypervisor, however, is actually controlling the host processor and resources and allocates what is needed to each operating system, making sure that the guest operating systems (called virtual machines or virtual servers) cannot disrupt each other."
